Role Of India Ngo In Imparting Quality Education

India NGO has been successful to a large extent in extending quality educational for slum children in various parts of India. In fact these organisations have been immensely successful in improving the quality of primary education. The purpose of education is to create responsible citizens and Educational NGO is working towards this mission.

In India we find several millions of children deprived of their right to education. Even though Indian government has been taking up several welfare programs and activities, they are not reaching the target group due to some selfish middlemen. India NGO has proved to be a boon in disguise in this situation. Several NGO are operating in various cities in India trying to uplift poor and downtrodden people.

Time and again it has been proved that single handily neither government nor India NGO can be successful in their tasks. Collaboration between these two can accomplish the task more easily. There are few aspects that need attention and the same are mentioned below:

Targeting slum children: India NGO need support from government in motivating slum dwelling children and provide them with quality education. This is quite a tough challenge for NGOs as most of these children go for work. So, not only children, their parents also need to be convinced to send their children to schools. Even if these children come to school, teachers in government schools should make learning easy by creating an interesting environment.

Quality education to slum children: Right to education has been included as one of the fundamental rights in Indian constitution. So every child up to the age of 13 years should attend school. In order to provide quality education to slum children, lot of changes have to be made in teaching process. Trainers for primary school teachers and teacher training institutes need to learn several new techniques from educational NGOs. In order to provide quality education to these children, teachers need to implement several new tools. This is possible only when India NGO and government work in unison.

Common vision: Government no doubt takes up several welfare programs but most of them do not succeed as they do not reach the targeted group. Due to lack of personal interest these programs get wasted. However, this is not the case with NGO. These are service oriented people and strive towards the well being of the community at large. Both government and India NGO need to work in collaboration towards achieving a common vision. NGOs are definitely competitive in shaping policies appropriate for primary education. Flexible learning tools along with innovative teaching methods should be introduced.

In order to have a competitive advantage, India NGO should constantly evaluate and redefine their welfare activities. India is a populous country and so neither the government nor NGO can bring in a huge change all by themselves. Collaboration between both these bodies would help in achieving remarkable results. India NGO because of their service motive and wide spread accessibility can cater to the needs of millions of people living in every nook and corner of the country. So lets work in unison and made India country with cent percent literacy rate.

Changes That Must Be Introduced In Our Education System

When a country introduces its educational plan it must see that it applies and caters to the local needs and aspirations of the country at large. In India the tragic appearance of education is clear because it does not really mean to our local needs.

The Education system that we are following today is the same system the English framed for Indians in the 19th century. They had planned it for us from their point of view as they needed a lot of babus for their offices in India. They never wanted to give Indians the education that would make them something higher than the babu. Now, from their point of view, the system was correct and viable. However, tredegy is that even after 50 years of independence, we still continue to follow the system of education framed by the English for us. We have never bothered to study the application and utility of the education we are imparting to our children.

After independence there has been a mushroom growth of schools and colleges but education remained at the level of 50% of the population. Then the moot point now is what has been the utility of these myriads of education homes that have grown in the last 50 years? The growth of these institutions has also been sporadic. Most cities and town have seen growth in the number of schools and colleges but the rural areas which consist of 70 80% of Indias population could not share with this growth.

This has resulted in the present precarious scenario. The cities and towns are producing millions of graduates and post graduates and even literacy is a matter of the future in our villages. What a huge gap in the progress of urban and rural areas. Besides this, what the towns are producing are also graduates and post graduates good nor nothing. Why because even after 5 years, a post graduate comes out of Institution he does not get employment.

It appears as if we have never studied the requirements of our country when we planned and changed our education system. We have never cared to understand what are we trying to produce? We are only producing an unemployable, disgruntled, unhappy generation. In a way I would say their disillusionment after education is quite understandable when, after 5 years of work and spending lot money they come out of the college and stand at the crossroads not knowing what to do next. We could not understand what we plan to give children by way of education?

Our education system needs a thorough overhaul which would relate to the requirement of our own country and not of the other countries. The first and foremost objective of education is to get a decent employment, if this is also not available then what have we done? We must instead of opening colleges for graduation open more institutions for vocational training. This, I suggest could very well take its birth at the school stage only. Instead of first memorizing subjects, more stress should be laid on extra curricular activities, which will automatically generate interest in the children for the fun they like. This fun of the school will further bloom into a vocation, when they enter a college of vocation or general studies as they like.

General studies should be compulsory till standard XII and after that, I feel vocation should be the training ground to prepare the children for jobs and assignments of employment.

Besides this, it is more important to lay greater stress on school education rather than on higher education. This is because, it is at the school level the child learns all his human behaviours which last him a lifetime. Higher education must be limited to those who are really interested in higher studies and who like to go to the teaching profession, all others should be diverted to centres of vocational training. This would help them in their profession after they complete their education.

The engineering and medical colleges should be only for meritorious students who can work and gain name and fame for themselves and do India proud.

So much for education in urban areas, let us not forget our rural areas because, India lives in villages. Unless we spread the fruits of progress to our villages the progress will be lop-sided and incomplete. In rural areas, literacy should be the target though at the same time, encouragement should be given to some brilliant children there also,m to enter the mainstream of urban development. In this way we will spread progress to villages instead of bringing villages to urban areas.

Thus, education, as it stands today is cumbersome and tiring for the children, and then frustrating and suicidal when they develop into adults. The world stands in front of them as a vacuum with nothing to offer. If we adapt our education asp per the needs of our countryment and our country, we will make a better turnout and create a better tomorrow.

Education For Physically Challenged In India

India is a country, which gives equal importance to all its citizens, irrespective of their colour, creed, culture and religion. The concept of unity in diversity is religiously practised in India. All the citizens of the country can be seen highly influenced by the personalities across the world. All the popular men of the country have been famous for their work and the intelligence possessed by them. People like Aryabhatta, Kalpana Chawla, Abdul Kalam, etc have been the top minds of the society. They have excelled in their respective fields and have set benchmarks for others. The success stories of these personalities have great impact on the development of the students in this field. The fields of education in India have grown rapidly, due to the increasing interest of the people towards education.

Education is something, which cannot get affected by the outer structure or beauty of a person. It is in mind and the student needs to have knowledge about the subjects and the courses related to his field. India has always given value to the importance of education and promoted the culture of education in the country. There are many children in the country, who are physically challenged and due to this problem are not able to carry on there studies. A sense of discomfort and hesitation is felt by these students, while studying in the regular schools and colleges of India. Every child has the capability to succeed in the field of his interest, but due to the social taboos and societys superstitious believes, they are not able to practise their education in the schools and colleges of India.

These children are special, they might have some problems, but it is a fact, when someone is deprived from something, then his will power to do something, increases to the maximum. Same is the case with these children; they have this special urge to gain educational qualification from prominent schools and colleges of India. Many colleges have this special quota for physical challenged people, so that they are able to study in the same college, with other children of their age. Almost all the government colleges of India have a certain number of seats reserved for the physically challenged students.

Also, there are few institutions in the country, which purely focus on the development and education of the physically disabled students. The provision for the reservation of seats to the physically disabled candidates is necessary, to make them learn the difficulties of life. College life is aimed at developing the communication skills as well as the overall personality of the student. Therefore, whether the student is normal or physically disables, he needs this development to ensure his growth in the future. Students who, are physically challenged has also been seen opting for creative courses, which support and help them to lead a happy and a successful career.

The zeal and the enthusiasm possessed by these students are highly commendable and the colleges they are studying are proud to have them as their students. Thus, taking education from recognised colleges of India, could be a great opportunity for the students to develop their career in the right direction. The colleges are very much firm about making their students learn different techniques to make themselves stand on their own and have the capability to make an identity for themselves in the world space. More number of colleges for physically handicapped students is required to be opened so that a large number of students can enrol. Also, there is a need to encourage more of such students to opt for higher education in colleges of India.
